When we moved to the townhouse in Hoboken, I didn’t really know what needed to be done. And when something needed work, finding someone to do it was another search.
I looked through recommendations in Hoboken Mommies and asked our realtor for names. There were home professionals people were recommending, but I kept having to look in different places.
I started Mile Square House to put those recommendations together so other people could find them too. It’s a place to find home professionals recommended by people in Hoboken who work in the local community.
I’ve also included seasonal maintenance checklists and information about local rules—the things I didn’t know when we first got the house.
This is a list I put together from local recommendations. Everyone on it has two things in common:
I don’t verify businesses, check insurance or vouch for their work, and I haven’t hired everyone on the list myself. If a listing says “NJ license on record”, that’s a license I found in the state’s public lookup, shown as extra information. Please get your own quotes and ask for proof of insurance before work starts.
The site is free to use, and businesses don’t pay to be on it.
If you had a bad experience with someone on the list, think someone should be taken off, or have an idea for the site, email me at milesquarehouse@gmail.com. If it’s your business and your details need updating, or you’d like to be removed, same address.
If you’ve worked with someone you’d recommend, I’d love to hear about them. I’ll reach out and ask if they’d like to be on the list.
